Equal Temperament and Quasi-Equal Attempts

According to Jorgensen, the first mathematically sound method of tuning truly equal temperament appeared in 1911. The concept had been around much longer, and many attempts were made. Jorgensen uses the term Quasi-Equal for attempts at ET made without the knowledge of precisely where to listen to beats.
